Jean Marie Barbas, 89, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2019.

She was born in Pittsfield on April 17, 1930, a daughter of the late Arthur and Mary Beaulieau Dansereau.

Jean attended Pittsfield Schools and was a 1947 graduate of St. Joseph’s High School. She then attended Our Lady of the Elms College.

She married the late Constantino Barbas on July 26, 1951 at Notre Dame Church. He predeceased her on September 30, 1981.

She worked as a manager at Either or Book Store, but first and foremost, she was a dedicated mother. She treasured her children and their families and embraced every moment with them. She truly loved her role as Grandma Jean and was always supportive of her grandchildren’s athletic, academic and artistic interests.

She loved the arts and for many years volunteered locally for the Town Players. Her only flaw, but a forgivable one, was that she was a NY Yankees fan.

Predeceased by her cherished husband, Constantino Barbas; she leaves behind her four sons, Stephen A. Barbas and wife Marcia of Manchester, NH, Paul M. Barbas and wife Jan of Barnstable, MA, Matthew J. Barbas of Pittsfield, MA, and Andrew D. Barbas and wife Kimberly of Plymouth, MA; her daughter, Susan A. Murphy and husband Mike of Lanesboro, MA; her brother, David Dansereau and wife Angela of Dalton, MA and sister Carol Seckler of Pittsfield, MA; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

To the family, my heartfelt condolences for your loss. Please find comfort in the knowledge that soon God will wipe out every tear from our eyes, and “death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things (will) have passed away.”(Rev. 21:3,4) May this promise give you comfort now and a real hope for the future. My deepest sympathies.

To Steve, Paul, Matt, Andrew, Susan and all the Barbas family;

It is with great sadness that today, we learned of your Mom's passing. She was truly a wonderful, loving, caring, giving Lady, Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Friend.
She has always had a special place in my heart since she was my loving God Mother and close life time friend of my Mom and Dad. I will always remember that wonderful smile of hers.
My Wife, Connie, and I send our deepest Condolences on your loss to all of you. We know that she is no longer suffering and is in a much better place, finally reunited with your Dad, and looking down with a smile on all of you. May all your loving memories bring each of you comfort and peace during these hard times.
With our deepest sympathy and love,
Tom and Connie Polidoro and Family

Tom, thank you for this wonderful tribute. I will make sure my family sees this. As Mary P said tonight, she's the first to join the boys - Frank, Guy, Ferd and Connie. She's in fine company. Our best to you and your family - Matt
